
Maria Pilgun
Maria Alexandrovna Pilgun, Doctor of Philology, is a leading research associate of the Psycholinguistics Department of the Institute of Linguistic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Her areas of expertise are psycholinguistics, social media analysis, text analysis, neural network technologies, media texts, multimodality, historical grammar of the Russian language, comparative historical grammar of Slavic languages and contrastive analysis.
Maria Pilgun has written over 200 research and methodical papers. Her works have been published in Russia as well as in China, Australia, Bulgaria, Poland, Spain, the USA, Switzerland and Taiwan.
As a visiting professor, she gave lectures at the University of Bologna (Italy), the Gabriele d’Annunzio University of Chieti and Pescara (Italy), the Centro ProLingua of Rome (Italy) and the Chinese Culture University (Taiwan).
She led and participated in over 30 projects of the European Commission (Marie Curie IRSES), the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Humanities Scientific Foundation and the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research.
Maria Pilgun is a member of the Russian Communication Association, of the International Communication Association (ICA) and the National Association of Mass Media Researchers.
She is an editorial board member of Psycholinguistics Journal, Person, Culture & Society Journal and Russian Journal of Communication.
She also reviews New Media & Society and Journalism and Mass Communication journals.
